STartups: Corecast - Founder and president

We made a tool that made money! I founded and raised over a million dollars to launch this company in 2014. The vision was simple: use historical data and natural language processing to predict the viability within market segments and appropriate cost of acquisition for distributors of independent film - then use the same data to market to the most receptive segments.

Initially working out of a WeWork office next to a pre-launch Musical.ly (yep, missed that boat). CoreCast developed a tool that helped film distributers acquire movies that would make money, or, more specifically, not lose money.

Using big data to rationalize the very irrational world of media audiences, we used natural language processing and new data indexing techniques, with machine learning, to drive improved predictions and audience acquisition, with increasing efficiency. This supported demographically and regionally-specific distribution efforts to ultimately deliver on consumer demand and gain an audience.

In 2017, our PE backers bolted us on to an independent film distributor in Los Angeles that absorbed our tech and immediately imploded…I would say it ended tragically, but our team came out whole and happy, and we got to go to Sundance with VIP badges. Ultimately, it also opened the door to my work with Adobe.
